• Cambodia Gambling Halls

    [ English ]

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den betting is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, contains 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel compound that features many amenities accompanying the gambling den, which houses 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
